Each round of Double Trap consists of 30 targets, made up of 15 simultaneous pairs with a single shot taken at each target. A simple points system is used for scoring with a single point awarded for each hit.
Double Trap uses three traps (see layout diagram) with each pair sent in a ‘random’ sequence from two of the three traps. During the course of a round every competitor will receive one pair from the left and middle traps, one pair from the middle and right traps and one pair from the left and right traps, on each of the five shooting stands. These pairs will be sent in a random sequence but each competitor will have received the same targets by the end of the round.
A standard event consists of five rounds making a total of 150 targets.
